Bovaer – No Way

We will not feed our cows with chemicals as Bovaer or simillar products are made off.

As of early 2026, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) is conducting a new, high-level review of Bovaer data following reports of health issues in roughly 25% of Danish dairy herds using the methane-reducing feed additive.

While widespread online claims suggest widespread mortality, official investigations are focusing on whether the additive causes specific metabolic issues, with some reports citing, among other health problems, cows that could not stand or died.

Newest Reports & Regulatory Action (2026)

  • EFSA Reassessment: Following reports from Danish authorities regarding diarrhea, fever, and metabolic disorders in cattle, the European Commission has mandated EFSA to review new scientific data. A public call for data was opened on February 3, 2026, with a submission deadline of March 31, 2026.
  • Danish Situation: Over 400 of 1,600 Danish dairy farms (roughly 25%) using Bovaer have reported health issues since a mandatory, widespread adoption began in October 2025.
  • Voluntary Pauses: While Denmark continues to use the product with tighter monitoring, Norway and Sweden have paused or ended their Bovaer trials following reports of cows collapsing.
